Zack Paleias began practicing martial arts in 1978 but didn’t find a style to call home until 2005 when he joined Ballard BJJ to improve his ground fighting skills. He promptly fell in love with the school and dedicated his training to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. A coaching instructor since blue belt, Zack received his black belt in April of 2014 from Professor Micah Reyes. He runs the youth programs at Ballard BJJ as well as teaching adult no-gi classes with an emphasis on BJJ for MMA and self-defense. With over 20 years of experience in various styles including kickboxing, judo, wrestling, shui chao and Xing Yi, Zack enjoys experimenting in combining different combative techniques effectively with BJJ. When not on the mats he runs a business working with animals and enjoys reading, playing guitar and swimming during his free time.
